“ALTERNATIVE KINEMATICS – sources, inspirations, potentials
We invite you to a meeting with individuals who engage in alternative kinematics, as well as those who may not necessarily define themselves this way but whose presence and voices will enrich the conversation about this practice in dance and performing arts. We aim to think of alternative kinematics not only as a concept associated with disability but to propose an understanding of it as different possible, alternative modes of movement, where bodies express themselves in various conditions, qualities, rhythms, and potentials. What does the vision of a dancer with alternative kinematics open up in the thinking and practice, not only of individuals with visible disabilities in dance, theater, and performance? Can the concept of alternative kinematics be situated at the intersection of various experiences, not necessarily related to disability?
The participants in the meeting will include:
– Filip Pawlak, performer, activist, curator, who, along with Rafał Urbacki, developed alternative kinematics in his artistic work years ago
– Ramona Nagabczyńska – dancer, choreographer, graduate of the Ballet High School in Warsaw and contemporary dance at the Hochschule Fur Musik Und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt and The Place in London, collaborating with many artists in Poland and abroad
– Bartosz Ostrowski – choreographer, dancer, performer, actor. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and the Warsaw Dance Department, as well as PACAP at Forum Dança in Lisbon
– Alicja Müller – critic, editor, who has been writing about dance and choreography for years, author of the book “Sobątańczenie. Between choreography and narration”
The meeting will be moderated by the researcher long associated with the Center for Inclusive Art, Dr. Ewelina Godlewska-Byliniak.
The meeting will take place on December 10th at 7:00 PM at the Center for Inclusive Art / Theater 21.
