Established in 2005, Theatre 21 is a Warsaw-based company which creates new languages and aesthetics of contemporary performance drawn from the Body-Minds and experiences of an ensemble of artists with a disability, empowering voice to diversity issues. The ensemble often takes a bold artistic voice by touching on taboo subjects, rejected or untamed images going against the stereotypes and all regimes of the norm. The company has created several dozen performances shown at theaters, institutions and festivals throughout Poland and abroad. In addition to artistic work, Theatre 21 is involved in education, publishing, organizes conferences, lectures and contributes to international networks. In 2018, Theatre 21 launched a social cultural institution in Warsaw, Center for Inclusive Arts/ Theatre 21, dedicated to creative work, professionalization and popularization of the achievements of artists with disabilities.
